One and Done?

Thought this title was appropriate. I had a couple people ask me if I am one and done on this blog because it’s been a few days since the first and only post.

No, obviously I am back because I typing this post. I just recently had a procedure done to remove kidney stones and I have been sleeping a lot.

Anyways, this title also relates to the Atlanta Falcons and New England Patriots. Top two teams in each division lose at home. At this point, most of you know the Packers beat the Falcons 48-21 and that the J-E-T-S beat the New England Patriots. I consider the Jets/Patriots an upset over the Packers/Falcons game. First the Falcons were favored by one, so in Vegas talk you are playing Keno. Second the Packers are a number two seed playing as a 6 seed, so this was going to be a close game…uh maybe not. Simply put the Packers did everything right on Saturday and the Falcons are going home. The Falcons will remain a dominant force in the NFC as long as they stay healthy.

Now for the Jets/Patriots game. This game was suppose to be closer than the 45-3 shellacking the Patriots gave the Jets, but still figured the Patriots to win. I was wrong. The Jets simply played with a fire lit under them, it was good intense football. The Jet’s are proving to be a good team, they have the defense to compete and just depends on which offense shows up. The special teams is very good especially knowing their return man, Brad Smith, is listed as the following; Wide receiver/Quarterback/Kick returner/Running back. I mean I have heard of utility players in baseball, but this is ridiculous. Kordell Stewart is saying, “Damn!” somewhere.

Obviously this weekend will have very good matchups for a trip to the Super Bowl. My team the Packers will play their 182nd game against the Bears, remarkably this will only be the second time meeting in the playoffs, last time being 1941 in which the Bears won 33-14 at Wrigley Field…Yes that Wrigley. Being such, this will be the third time this season the Packers and Bears will play, both splitting wins at home.

This game will be remarkable to watch just because of the history these two teams have against each other. I mean it’s the oldest rivalry in the NFL and they will playing for the George Halas Trophy named after the former Bears head coach. This will truly be a great game.

The Jets/Steelers game should be very physical, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see some personal fouls in this one. The Steelers are a solid team all around and the Jets have a fire under them to try and get back to the Super Bowl since 1969 when Joe “Willie” Namath guaranteed victory over the heavily favorite Baltimore Colts. I look forward to this game as a football fan as these two storied franchises are guaranteed to leave everything on the field. I am hoping for a close game.

Lastly, I have been thinking over the past few days how to incorporate more sports, so I believe I will be making posts later in the day once scores are final and stories are complete. This will allow me to talk about the games that are important and also focus on stories as well. Of course there will also be posts that will be random in nature, like how to get the Peanuts guy from Dodgers Stadium at a birthday party.

Until next time!
